A spatial construction inside an exhibition context could be seen as fantastic scenery, enormous, and a self-contained showcase. Clean black interior with objects, while sound and video collage acts as an cinema chamber. Together they inciting thoughts about the situation of post-colonial representation at the modern Museum: insurmountable gap between visitors, as passive spectators, and foreign. Regardless of all explanations, arrangements and nomenclatures the dimension of the exhibits is still difficult to understand.

Since the late colonial period, existing documentary footage and films from French, German and British colonies. Depictions reproduced a  distant, unexplored, and exotic world. Moving pictures confirmed belonging of so-called Terra nullius and its people to their new sovereigns. First films of this era led together varied combination of ethnography, education, research, politics and propaganda. That black and white images landed up in ethnographic Museums as illustration of “Strangers” till our days.

For the Universalbox videos more then 20 videos from German and French colonial Africa have been processed, and some fashion show recordings as an imaginary bridge to the presence, which refers to colonial aesthetics (e.g. Alexander McQueen, Christian Dior)

As soundtrack for installing, both historic recordings from the colonial period has been used, as well as natural sounds from “sound maps” up to pure noise. On a second level a voice makes enclosed space of the box outward audible.The cut quotes come from the Lichtnecker archive, which German artist Hans Lichtnecker (1891-1988) collected after 1931 for a “race Archive” in Namibia. The recordings of people was digitized and translated only in 2007 and remained, until then, incomprehensible.

A wild mixture of archaeological, cultural, historical, cult and everyday use objects form collections of ethnographic museums. The circumstances of the origin remain unclear. The compilation for certainty, the Western view constructed classifications by material or use, makes each object a representative of the mysterious Others and lose their function.

Objects for the installation, as well as Video and Sounds, were created and designed according to these criteria. Due to superposition, deformation and addition, they could not longer be classified. Thus they shape as an empty space a projection free for fantasies of the visitors. Through transparency and diversity, they become nostalgic and whimsical creatures of the supposed ethnographic knowledge.

The airport is the ultimate symbol of the modern world. It is an inbetween space that represents the contemporary hunger for speed and information. Kursdorf is an island of memories, nostalgia and dreams hidden behind the highway noise barrier at the edge of the Leipzig/Halle Airport.
In this tour, the audience was invited to cross a surrealist portal from one biosphere into another while reflec- ting on human practices that produ- ce and destroy places. The tour were based on short interviews with ex-in- habitants and people connected with Kursdorf.
Afterwards work will be continued on the base of Tour experience and video recordings.

DIE SCHREITENDEN / THE STRIDING MEN

The artistic work „Die Schreitenden“ is a confrontation of the the history of military parades. Video images of marching crowds from different countries and times merge to a moving pattern. Through technical interactions the movement destruct itself again and again. While observer passing by visitor‘s body sets off a manipulation and makes video clear. White stripes taped on the ground like guidelines imitating a front area. Insensibly visitors takes part in this ceremony from the past till today cele- brating arms and clashes.

Since almost hundred years existing first building design projects, which make it possible to replicate residential structures plenty in many places. Since 60th  Plattenbauten were selected out off political, ideological and demographic reasons as a model for architecture and style of living in the Soviet Union. Across the country, the same cities and districts have been built, so that till nowadays one can find self in a foreign city between  known buildings. The suppression of individuality and promoting for uniformity characterize also a political regime, the symbol of this is the architecture body. Types of houses as a synonym of form of existence, as the image and likeness of human reality.

My idea in the theme “Where is outside?”: if between inside and outside there is a space, then one can loose themselves. That was my beginning.
A visual diary, 3 months of self research of everyday life in a foreign country.
An experiment of trying to translate everyday condition.
Three lines showing three different measurements:
Black is stress.
Blue is panic.
Pink is general mood.

Our view of the world is getting more complicated every day.

As more as we getting closer to a society ordered by data, we missing things that can‘t be count. The problem of information today is a lack of emotions and soul. Today through TV and computer we take part in demonstrations, wars, revolutions and other events. And this changes everything. Furthermore condition of extreme speed leaves no time to wait. I was thinking about globalization and today`s life full of information and especially my personal view of reality. Everyday we read and get more and more news. From the one side it‘s special knowledge, but from the other there are limits of perception, after that it get‘s to be informational blindness.

About this is my project.
